The future of justice starts here.
Four days to think about, test and build digital justice — bringing courts, academia, research and technology together in one place.
Where justice, academia and technology meet
The Judiciary Tech Summit is organised by the High Council for the Judiciary (CSM), the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon (FDUL), the National Centre for Legal Innovation (CNIJ) and AI LAB FDUL, and takes place from 17 to 20 November 2026 at the Pavilhão de Portugal in Lisbon.
The initiative brings together judges and prosecutors, legal practitioners, researchers, students, public institutions, technology companies and experts from different countries, fostering dialogue and knowledge sharing on the challenges and opportunities of the digital transformation of justice.
The programme includes conferences, debates, masterclasses, moot courts and technology demonstrations, offering different perspectives on the impact of technology on justice and the legal professions, as well as on the changes that digital innovation can bring to the way judicial institutions operate.

High Council for the Judiciary
The High Council for the Judiciary is the constitutional self-governing body for judges of the judicial courts, responsible for their management and for safeguarding judicial independence in the exercise of their duties.
Established in 1976, the CSM has followed the development of Portuguese justice for 50 years, working in key areas such as judicial administration, court management, training, institutional and international cooperation and, increasingly, innovation and digital transformation.
In recent years, the Council has stepped up its work on technology and the modernisation of justice, promoting projects, working groups and initiatives dedicated to the responsible use of artificial intelligence, data protection, court organisation and the development of new solutions to support judicial work.

Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon
A centuries-old institution at the forefront of European and international law schools, thanks to the renewal of scientific knowledge, the study of transnational phenomena and technological innovation in teaching.
As part of the University of Lisbon, the Faculty of Law works alongside the University’s other schools in sharing knowledge, embracing an interdisciplinary approach, serving the community and upholding an environment conducive to human fulfilment.
Founded over a century ago, in 1913, and originally housed in the Palácio Valmor, in Campo dos Mártires da Pátria, the Faculty has occupied its current building in the Cidade Universitária since 1957–1958. Renovation and extension work carried out in 2000 added a computerised library with reading rooms, research offices, new lecture theatres, a conference auditorium and a moot court room. In 2022 the library was expanded with a new building comprising two reading rooms, offices and a multipurpose room, almost doubling the number of seats available to users.
“A space for reflection, experimentation and collaboration that brings together justice, academia, research and the technology sector.”
Through the sharing of experiences and interdisciplinary debate, the initiative seeks to contribute to a better understanding of current challenges and to identify solutions that support the development of the justice system.
